Day of the Dead Ride Program

Each days ride differs in length and speeds due to terrain, but expect to be riding for up to 5 hours per day. We will check in daily with our guests if you like to ride more or less and even the ride on the Day of the Dead - we have options for beginners as well. The following is a possible scenario but can be changed...

OCT 31 - THURSDAY

Arrive today (or the night before with early check-in**) and join your fellow adventurers for lunch. Ease into your holiday with a first ride Visit Ex-Hacienda 'La Goleta,' built in 1690 by the Spaniards.

NOV 1 – FRIDAY

Visit the weekly local market in Jilotepec, featuring colorful stands with Charro riding gear, and local arts and handicrafts. Alternatively, relax by the infinity pool. Enjoy lunch under the 'tree of hearts' before an afternoon ride. The air is filled with the sounds of nature, and the gentle rhythm of your horse's hooves adds to the peaceful ambiance.

Tonight Rancho Las Cascadas hosts a special dinner in memory of all our loved ones who have departed.

NOV 2 – SATURDAY DAY OF THE DEAD

Bright and early on November 2nd, the guests meet by the horses to decorate them with marigolds for an all-day cabalgata (ride). Marigolds strong fragrance helps lead the dead back to their altar. The horses look 

absolutely gorgeous as they make their way from town to town. From the smallest cemetery to the largest one. Even the locals point at us and take pictures!

NOV 3 - SUNDAY

Ride through a picturesque canyon to the village of 'Xochitlan,' known for its flowers and temperate climate. Experience easy canters between cornfields, visit the historic church, and enjoy some rest and refreshment. You will be amazed by the sure-footedness of your horse as you explore 'Xochitlan de las Flores.'

In the afternoon, take a guided walk to the waterfalls surrounding the ranch.

NOV 4 - MONDAY

Embark on an easy full-day ride to the old Ex-Hacienda of Tandeje and the mystic Fresno waterfalls, shrouded by ancient trees. Ascend to the Virgin of Guadalupe sanctuary with views of the canyon below. Conclude the day with a 'Hasta la Vista' bonfire, cherishing the special moments and memories that we will treasure forever.

NOV 5 – TUESDAY

Enjoy the open sky country on a last short morning ride, schedule permitting. Have lunch before departing for the airport at designated times.
